Yes, AI can build a business website. It can produce layouts, copy and working code surprisingly quickly.
The decision is whether you would trust that output to represent the business, collect enquiries and keep working as the site develops. A plausible website is not automatically a dependable one. AI is most useful when it sits inside a professional web design and development process, with somebody responsible for the structure, decisions, testing and final implementation.
I use AI throughout website projects
I use AI every day. It helps with customer research, search intent, page planning, wireframes, content structure, design exploration, development, troubleshooting and QA. Used properly, it gives me better tools for work I was already doing.
That does not mean I hand a project to an AI builder and accept whatever comes back. My production websites are still built around the same things I have relied on for years: clear information architecture, sensible conversion journeys, WordPress, PHP, Advanced Custom Fields and reusable components.
AI is very good at getting you away from a blank page
One of AI’s strengths is speed of exploration. You can test several page structures, compare different ways of explaining a service, sketch wireframes and find gaps before development begins.
That is useful because website projects often slow down at the decision stage, not the coding stage. AI can help generate options quickly. The professional job is deciding which option fits the audience, offer and commercial objective.
Where an AI-built website can be enough
A temporary landing page, proof of concept, internal tool, personal project or very small brochure site may not need a full bespoke build. If the commercial risk is low and the site is easy to replace, an AI website builder can be a sensible option.
It can also be a good way to learn what you want. Building an early version may expose the missing pages, unclear services or functionality that need more thought before you invest further.

Where the risk changes
The stakes are different when the website is expected to win business, take payments, collect personal data, support SEO or connect to other systems. A generated form that looks correct but does not send is no longer a design issue. A page structure that creates overlapping service pages can become an SEO problem. Code that works today but is difficult to maintain becomes a cost later.
AI can help with all of those areas, but somebody still needs enough experience to recognise when the answer is incomplete, test the result and know what needs changing.
The website still needs a clear commercial structure
AI can write a paragraph or generate a layout. It does not know which service matters most to your margins, which proof reassures the buyer, which enquiries you actually want or where the customer normally gets stuck.
Those decisions shape the site. The homepage needs to explain the business quickly. Service pages need to answer the right buyer questions. Proof needs to appear where it reduces doubt. Calls to action need to fit the stage of the decision rather than being dropped onto every section.
Good AI output still needs checking
Generated code can be useful and sometimes excellent. It can also assume the wrong framework, duplicate existing functionality, introduce fragile dependencies or solve the visible symptom without understanding the rest of the site.
The same applies to copy and design. AI can produce confident wording that is not true, or a polished layout that looks complete before real content, mobile behaviour, tracking and forms have been tested.
If you already have an AI-built site and something is not right, the AI website repair service is designed for that situation. The aim is to diagnose what has been built, fix what is repairable and explain when a rebuild is the more sensible option.

Why I still build production sites in WordPress
WordPress gives an established business an owned platform that can be maintained and extended without depending on the AI tool used during production. With ACF Flexible Content, I can give the client structured editing fields and reusable sections without turning the site into a page-builder free-for-all.
AI improves the process around that foundation. It helps me explore more options, spot problems earlier and move through repetitive work more efficiently. The client still receives a conventional website another competent WordPress developer can understand and work on later.
Use AI where it improves the work
You do not have to choose between “AI website” and “traditional website”. The more useful approach is to decide where AI genuinely helps and where experience still needs to make the call.
If you are choosing between WordPress, a hosted platform and an AI builder, this comparison of WordPress, Wix, Squarespace and AI website builders covers the practical trade-offs.
If you want a website that uses modern AI-assisted tools without making the production site dependent on them, book a call. I can show you how I use AI inside the process and where I deliberately keep the final build conventional and maintainable.
