Clear, consistent business design from brief to finished artwork

Graphic Design and Print Management

Graphic design and managed print for brochures, reports, presentations, sales material and business collateral that needs to look credible and work commercially.

Direct contact with the designer. Practical production knowledge. No invented awards or anonymous testimonials.

Business design should make information easier to understand and trust

A brochure, annual report or sales deck has a job to do. It must organise information, reflect the quality of the business and help the reader see what matters without fighting the layout.

I provide graphic design for established businesses that need professional material without adding another layer of account management. The work can cover concept, layout, artwork preparation and print coordination, depending on the brief.

The starting point is the audience, the content and how the item will be used. A premium finish cannot rescue unclear information, and a strong layout still needs correct source material.

Best fitEstablished businesses with defined content and a commercial purpose

Print costsPaper, finishing, delivery and supplier charges shown separately

Design improves presentation and communication, but it cannot create missing facts, approve regulated claims or guarantee sales. The client remains responsible for final content, legal accuracy and sign-off.

Poor design often begins with an unclear brief or unmanaged production

The visible result may be inconsistent fonts and crowded pages, but the underlying problem is usually that nobody has taken responsibility for hierarchy, assets, specifications and approval.

What commonly goes wrong

  • Every page competes for attention instead of guiding the reader
  • Brand elements change between documents and suppliers
  • Low-resolution images or incorrect files reach the printer
  • Content is approved late and forces avoidable rework
  • Print choices are made without understanding cost or use

What a controlled design process provides

  • A clear hierarchy for headings, evidence and calls to action
  • Consistent use of the existing brand or an agreed visual direction
  • Artwork prepared for the correct format and production method
  • Defined review stages and one final approval point
  • Practical advice on paper, finishing, quantities and delivery

The service can cover the design alone or the complete route to print

The work is scoped around the final use rather than sold as a vague creative package.

Brochures and capability documents

Structured multi-page material that explains services, evidence and next steps without turning every page into an advert.

Reports and formal publications

Annual reports, technical documents and stakeholder material with repeatable styles, tables, charts and a clear reading order.

Sales and event material

Presentations, leaflets, exhibition graphics and supporting collateral designed to work together across a campaign or event.

Artwork and print coordination

Final artwork checks, printer specifications, proof review and liaison with an agreed supplier where managed print is included.

Digital versions may need different dimensions, file sizes or interactive behaviour from the printed item. These are treated as defined outputs rather than assuming one artwork file will work everywhere without adjustment. When a document will be reused, I can also create a controlled template or repeatable visual system, but editable formats and future-user requirements must be agreed before the project is priced.

Good projects have a clear purpose, source content and approval route

I can help organise and improve material, but the project still needs accurate information and timely decisions from the business.

A strong fit

  • The document has a defined audience and action
  • Core copy, data and images can be supplied or commissioned
  • One person can coordinate feedback and approve the final version
  • The existing brand is available or the visual direction can be agreed
  • Print quantities, formats and deadlines are realistic

Not a strong fit

  • The expectation is unlimited concepts before a brief is agreed
  • Regulated or technical copy has no qualified owner
  • Low-quality assets must be presented as high-resolution originals
  • A fixed deadline leaves no time for proofing or client approval
  • The project depends on speculative free design work

A nominated approver matters. Conflicting feedback from several stakeholders can be managed, but somebody must decide which comments are accepted and confirm that names, prices, dates, technical statements and contact details are correct.

Published project evidence replaces anonymous design quotes

The available case studies are broader brand and website projects, not a claim that every item shown was a print project.

CMI Technology

The CMI project included a rebrand, logo and brand identity alongside a bespoke WordPress website and catalogue structure.

Broader project portfolio

The case-study collection shows how design, structure and commercial communication have been applied across different established businesses.

Print samples or relevant artwork can be discussed where available and appropriate. I will not replace unavailable evidence with a made-up customer quotation.

A clear approval process protects the design, budget and deadline

1. Define the jobWe agree the audience, format, purpose, quantity, deadline, supplied assets and who has final approval.
2. Review the contentI check structure, image quality, brand material and production constraints before the layout work begins.
3. Establish the directionA representative concept or initial pages set the hierarchy, typography and visual approach for approval.
4. Build the complete artworkThe remaining pages or items are designed using the agreed system, with content placed and production details checked.
5. Complete controlled revisionsFeedback is consolidated through the nominated contact and handled within the number of review rounds in the proposal.
6. Supply or manage productionApproved files are prepared for their intended use. Where print is included, proofs, supplier communication and delivery are managed to the agreed point.

The quote separates design work from print and third-party costs

The cost depends on the number of pages or items, the condition of the content, the number of concepts, the review process and the production specification.

How design is priced

  • A fixed project price is used when the deliverables and review rounds are clear
  • Open-ended support can use £45 per hour or £360 per day
  • Additional versions, languages or late content changes are scoped separately
  • Copywriting, illustration or specialist photography is identified rather than assumed
  • The proposal states the supplied file formats and usage

Print and supplier costs

  • Paper, quantity, size, finishing and delivery affect the print quote
  • Printer charges are itemised separately from design
  • Physical proofs or specialist finishes may add cost and time
  • Colour can vary between screens, proofing methods and print processes
  • Reprints after approved content errors are not included automatically

Nothing goes to print until the nominated client contact has approved the final content and artwork. That approval is recorded because production errors become expensive once printing begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of graphic design do you provide?

I work on business-focused material such as brochures, reports, capability documents, presentations, leaflets, stationery and event graphics. The exact deliverables are agreed before design begins.

Can you arrange the printing?

Yes, where managed print is part of the brief. Printer selection, specifications, proofs, delivery and third-party costs are then defined in the proposal.

Do you create logos and brand identities?

I can create or develop practical brand elements where the scope is clear. A larger naming or research-led brand programme may need specialist input beyond this service.

Can you rewrite the content as well?

Light editing and structural recommendations can be included. Full copywriting, technical authorship or regulated content approval is separate and must be scoped explicitly.

How many design concepts and revisions are included?

The proposal states the number of initial directions and review rounds. Unlimited speculative concepts and unlimited revisions are not included.

Can you work with our existing brand guidelines?

Yes. Please supply the current guidelines, logos, fonts, colour references and any existing templates. I will record gaps or conflicts before production.

What files will we receive?

You receive the agreed print-ready and digital outputs. Editable working files are supplied only when the proposal says so and any third-party licensing allows it.

Can you meet an urgent print deadline?

I will assess the content, proofing and supplier schedule honestly. An urgent project is accepted only when there is enough time for a responsible approval and production process.
