Freelance WordPress web designer for Farnborough businesses

Web Design Farnborough

I design and rebuild WordPress websites for Farnborough businesses that need to explain what they do more clearly, look credible to serious buyers and turn more of the right visits into enquiries.

30 years’ experience. Clear pricing. Direct contact from the first conversation onwards.

Your website should make a complex business easy to understand

Farnborough has plenty of businesses selling technical, specialist or high-value services. The people inside the company understand the detail. A new customer does not. If the website is full of internal language, broad claims or pages that assume too much knowledge, a strong business can be difficult to choose.

I help businesses turn that complexity into a website that makes sense. That might mean a new WordPress website, a structured rebuild or focused improvements to the site you already have. I will not recommend replacing everything when a smaller job can solve the problem properly.

You’ll work with me from the first conversation onwards. I’m based in Guildford and take on projects for businesses in Farnborough and across the UK. I’ll get to grips with the brief, help you separate the useful parts of the current site from the problems, and keep the project moving in the right direction. You can read more about my background and experience, or see the wider WordPress web design service.

Getting startedTell me what the website needs to do better

Being easy to find is only the first part

People still have to choose you once they reach the website. They will compare the offer, the way it is explained and the evidence behind it. A business can rank well enough to be considered and still lose the enquiry because the page gives the reader no strong reason to continue.

  • The main service is buried beneath broad company language.
  • Technical detail is presented without explaining the client benefit.
  • The website makes the business look less established than it is.
  • Important pages do not answer the questions buyers ask before contact.
  • Proof is missing, vague or too far from the claims it should support.
  • The next step is unclear or asks for too much too soon.

Fix the reason a buyer moves on

A full rebuild may be necessary, but it should not be the starting assumption. Sometimes the real problem is one weak service page, missing evidence, a poor mobile experience or an enquiry route that creates unnecessary friction.

Before we agree a larger project, I’ll identify where confidence is being lost and whether the current website can support the changes properly. Where an AI-built site has unstable code or uncertain foundations, a defined AI website repair review can establish what is reusable and what is not.

The website has four jobs to do properly

The design matters, but it cannot carry a weak message or a poor build. I look at four connected areas so the finished website is useful to the business, not simply newer than the one it replaced.

Explain the offer

  • Make the main service and ideal client obvious
  • Give different audiences the right route through the site
  • Turn technical knowledge into useful client-facing content

Build it properly

  • Create layouts that remain clear on phones, tablets and desktops
  • Use WordPress in a way that makes routine editing practical
  • Keep the build dependable without adding unnecessary complexity

Help people find it

  • Give important services their own properly structured pages
  • Set up metadata, redirects, internal links and schema where useful
  • Match each page to a genuine search or buyer question

Make action easy

  • Use specific proof rather than unsupported marketing claims
  • Place the next step where it makes sense in the decision
  • Connect forms, tracking, bookings or CRM systems where agreed

What is included: the proposal will define the pages, content, integrations and technical work covered by the project. Ongoing SEO, maintenance and third-party services are separate unless they are specifically included.

How much of the current website is worth keeping?

That is the question I want answered before recommending a project. Some sites need starting again. Others contain useful content, rankings or functionality that should be protected. The scope should follow the evidence rather than a preferred package.

Start with a new website

This suits a new business, a substantially changed offer or an existing company whose current site has too little value to justify working around it. The pages and enquiry routes are planned from the ground up.

Best for: creating the first serious website for the business or replacing an online presence that no longer has a useful foundation.

Rebuild what is holding you back

A rebuild keeps the content, links or functionality that still matter while replacing the structure and implementation causing the problems. It gives the business a better website without discarding useful assets blindly.

Best for: a site with some value left in it, but too many connected problems for another round of small patches.

Improve the site you have

A focused project can work when the core platform is reliable and the weakness is clearly defined. That may be the service content, mobile layout, proof, speed or the path to an enquiry.

Best for: correcting a contained problem without turning it into a larger rebuild unnecessarily.

Two briefs that needed completely different solutions

LAN Support already had an established business and a website that had become restrictive. Jet Washing Farnham was a new service that needed its pages and content planned around local demand. The right work came from understanding the brief, not applying the same website package twice.

LAN Support

Problem: fixed layouts made the previous website difficult for the team to update or extend.

Work: the website was rebuilt in WordPress with flexible content fields, a clearer structure and a more direct route towards an enquiry.

Verified result: the published case study records a fast, reliable website that the team can manage and develop, with a cleaner path for prospective clients.

Problem: a new local service needed a website built around how customers searched and what they wanted to know before making contact.

Work: the pages, messaging and content were planned around local search intent and the practical questions people ask before choosing a provider.

Verified result: the published case study records steady organic enquiries, consistent Google traffic and visitors arriving with a better understanding of the service.

You will know who is responsible for the project

You deal with me, not a chain of account managers. I learn what the business needs, keep the brief straight and remain accountable for the communication, decisions and finished quality.

1. Tell me what is wrongWe start with the business, the current site and the result you need from changing it.
2. Establish what is really thereI review the known position and explain where proper paid discovery or diagnosis is required.
3. Agree the jobThe scope sets out the pages, priorities, responsibilities, exclusions and commercial objective.
4. Develop the solutionThe structure, copy direction, layouts and WordPress work are produced against that agreed scope.
5. Check the important detailsWe review the pages, mobile experience, forms and key routes before anything is approved for launch.
6. Put it live properlyThe website is launched and handed over. Further support is available where the business actually needs it.
I may take a quick surface look to decide whether an enquiry is suitable. Work that requires investigation, diagnosis or firm technical conclusions is paid. Any build, rebuild or repair is then quoted as a separate agreed phase.

What determines the cost of the website?

Most website projects fall between £1,800 and £6,000. A short brochure site and a detailed B2B website with several audiences, technical content and integrations are not the same job. Page count matters, but so do the quality of the existing content, migration, functionality and the amount of thinking required before the build can begin.

You will receive a defined scope rather than a low headline figure that leaves the important parts vague. Anything outside that scope is discussed before it becomes additional work.

A good fit

  • Your business is established and the website has a clear job to do
  • You need to explain a technical, specialist or high-value service properly
  • You are prepared to improve the message and structure, not only the appearance
  • You have a realistic budget for dependable WordPress work
  • You want experienced guidance and one person responsible for the project

Not included automatically

  • Unlimited pages, revisions or content production
  • Branding, photography, video or paid advertising unless agreed
  • Complex custom software or unscoped ecommerce work
  • Ongoing SEO, hosting, maintenance or emergency support
  • Third-party licences and services outside the agreed project

Ongoing visibility can be scoped through my SEO services. Updates, backups and practical support are available separately through WordPress website care plans.

Web design for Farnborough businesses

Farnborough is known for aerospace, defence and technology, but the local economy also includes professional services, trades, independent businesses and companies serving customers far beyond the town. That mix creates one common website problem: the offer has to make sense to people with very different levels of technical knowledge.

A specialist business does not need to make itself sound basic. It needs to explain the value clearly enough for the right buyer to understand why the detail matters. Strong service pages, useful proof and a straightforward enquiry route do that far better than broad claims about innovation or expertise.

I’m based in Guildford and work with businesses in Farnborough, North Camp, Fleet and the wider area through calls, shared reviews and planned meetings where they are useful. I do not claim to have a Farnborough office. What matters is whether I am the right person to improve the website and take responsibility for the work.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does web design in Farnborough cost?

A typical project is between £1,800 and £6,000. I price the actual job after looking at the pages, content, existing website, migration and any integrations or specialist requirements. The proposal then makes the included work and boundaries clear.

Do you work with businesses based in Farnborough?

Yes. I work with Farnborough businesses from my Guildford base. Most project communication is handled through calls and shared reviews, with planned meetings used where they genuinely help. The same approach works for companies selling locally or across the UK.

Are you a freelance web designer or an agency?

I’m a freelance web designer. You speak to me about the brief and continue dealing with me as the project develops. I remain responsible for the decisions, communication and quality, including where a particular part of the job needs specialist input.

Do you build WordPress websites?

Yes. WordPress is my main website platform. I use it for new sites, rebuilds and substantial improvements, with the setup chosen around what the business needs to manage rather than filling the site with unnecessary plugins and workarounds.

Can you help explain a technical or specialist service?

Yes. One of the most important parts of the job is turning internal knowledge into pages a prospective client can understand. The content should preserve the substance of the service while making the commercial value and next step much clearer.

Can you improve my website without rebuilding it?

Often, yes. A sound WordPress site may only need stronger service pages, better proof, mobile corrections or technical improvements. I recommend rebuilding when the existing structure would make those changes unreliable, inefficient or more expensive in the long run.

Is SEO included with a new website?

The build includes the agreed search foundations, which may cover page structure, metadata, redirects, internal links and schema. That is different from an ongoing SEO campaign, which involves continued work and is scoped separately.

What happens after the website launches?

I hand over the website and explain what has been delivered. Some clients then need hosting, maintenance, content or SEO support, while others do not. Any ongoing work is agreed because it is useful, not bundled in automatically.
